St. Louis is home to a small but lovely tango community. From looking at their website it looks like they have an average of 1-2 tango events per week. I went to two events. One was a regular milonga and one was a one-off event in conjunction with a visiting teacher. Both events had something like 20 - 30 people with a good gender balance. I felt like the skill level (at least of the followers I danced with) was significantly better than other tango communities of a similar size that I’ve danced at in the U.S.
The people were incredibly friendly. The second milonga I went to was a ways away from the city center. It would have been an expensive cab ride, but they called around amongst the community and found people willing to provide transportation to and from my hotel.
Both venues were great for dancing. Good floor and a nice size and layout very conducive to milongas and cabeceo. All in all I had a great time dancing in St. Louis. I will definitely dance again next time I’m in the area.

St. Louis is small enough that you probably wouldn’t travel there solely for tango, but if you find yourself there you should definitely try to dance.
